Helping our crew helps you.
To help make collections as efficient and safe as possible for crews we ask that bins are presented for collection on bin day as follows:
- left kerbside or by designated bin collection point by 7am where they can clearly be seen by the refuse crew
- the correct waste is placed in the correct bin, waste materials are properly sorted and comply with our service. Here’s what should go into each bin
- are grouped together where possible and positioned so they are not causing any obstruction on roads or driveways
- with the bin lid is closed to ensure the safety of our collection crews and prevent wind-blown litter
Householders should:
- ensure parked vehicles don’t obstruct the bin lorry or crew from accessing the collection points to retrieve bins. Failure to do so may prevent bins from being emptied.
- ensure all bins are clearly marked with the corresponding property number. This helps ensure transparency and allows our team to resolve any issues promptly.
- remove your bin from the collection point and return it to your property as soon as possible after the collection
- check social media and our website at Christmas and New Year and on occasions when extreme weather conditions occur, to ensure you’re aware of any temporary service changes
- Download the Derry Strabane Recycling App where you can check bin days, recycling tips and temporary service changes.
Thank you for your cooperation – it makes a huge difference in keeping collections across the City & District efficient and reliable.
