Calling All Creatives
Primary 4–7 pupils – grab your pens, pencils or paints – it’s time to get eco creative!
Council is inviting primary school P4-P7 pupils to design artwork that could feature on the side of Council recycling lorries, showcasing the importance of recycling and encouraging positive environmental habits.
Pupils are asked to create a design that will help raise awareness and change behaviour to benefit the local environment. The winning artwork will be professionally displayed on Council’s recycling lorries, bringing the young designer’s environmental message to life.
Your design should share a positive environmental message and help educate our community about good recycling habits.
One key message we’d love you to bring to life is why food waste doesn’t belong in your black bin.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the benefits of recycling food and garden waste through the brown bin service. Food and garden waste collected in brown bins is transformed into high-quality compost which is then used in parks, open spaces and schools across the district.
The winning design will be professionally printed and displayed on a recycling lorry that travels through hundreds of streets and visits thousands of households each week, giving message significant visibility across the City & District.
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places as well as an overall prize for the school. There will also include a visit to the winners’ school from the Mayor and lorry.
Let’s Get Creative
Pupils are encouraged to use pencils, paints or crayons to produce artwork that is imaginative, engaging and clearly communicates the environmental theme to encourage recycling through use of the brown bin.
