Have you an old sewing machine at home, perhaps it is broken or you have a more modern machine. If you do please donate and we will pass them on to the charity āTools For Solidarityā. Their team of volunteers will refurbish and repair the machine to full working order so that it can be shipped to tailors in sub Sahara, Africa.
They run 3 artisan support and training centres in Tanzania targeting; women in rural areas, vocational training colleges for young people and people with disabilities. Your machines will really improve the lives of local tailors, their families and communities by enabling them to make better products, increase their income generating capacity and take on young trainees, transforming their lives.
We accept all sewing machines in whatever condition from domestic to industrial, treadle to electric.
Your donation will be much appreciated and could potentially change someoneās life forever.
Sewing machines can be donated at all Derry and Strabane Household Recycling Centres. Council can also collect your sewing machine if you are unable to get to a centre. Tools for Solidarity accept all sewing machines in any condition from domestic to industrial, treadle to electric. Anyone who has a sewing machine that they would like to donate can take them to any of Councilās Recycling Centres or alternatively they can be collected by telephoning 028 7137 4107.
