Medical Bin Requirement
A ‘Medical Bin’ service is provided where a household requires an extra bin to deal with additional waste related to medical needs. It is important to note that such bins are not to be used for clinical wastes as there are separate arrangements operated by the HSC for this waste stream. In the main, the bin is to be used for incontinence pads from adults, medical packaging waste etc. Once approved and purchased by the resident, the Council will empty the 2nd bin from a property requiring the additional bin capacity.
The process:
Prior approval from the Refuse section must be obtained.
Please make contact with the Control Room on 02871374107 to do so.
As part of the sign-up process each applicant will be required to provide a supporting medical note from a health professional to validate their need.
Such evidence must clearly state name, address and contact telephone number of the individual seeking the bin.
Note: Council have a right to check that applicants are using the service correctly.
Council may review and/or withdraw any service if misused or if criteria is not met.

Bin Assistance
An ‘Assisted Bin’ service is provided where a resident is unable to present their bins at the kerbside collection point due to physical impairment and where there is no-one else within the household able to undertake this task. Once approved, Council refuse collection staff will collect and return bins to individual properties for those residents unable to do so.
The process:
Prior approval from the Refuse section must be obtained.
