Summer is the perfect time to make the most of your brown bin. With gardens in full bloom, more outdoor dining and plenty of seasonal fruit and vegetables, it’s one of the busiest times of year for both food and garden waste.
By recycling your organic waste correctly, you’re helping to reduce the amount of rubbish sent to landfill while supporting a cleaner, greener Derry and Strabane.
What can go in your brown bin?
Your brown bin is for both food waste and garden waste.
Food waste should be placed in a compostable liner before going into the brown bin. If you don’t have a compostable liner, place some kitchen roll in your caddy. Garden waste should be placed in the bin loosely.
